Cedars Sinai 25th Anniversary, Biogenetic Research

Charity Pic 4

Last night, May 23, 2010, my wife and I were honored and privileged to be at the Cedars Sinai Medical Center’s 25th Anniversary Sports Spectacular for Biogenetic Research.  This is a very special benefit and the funds are proceeded to Cedars Sinai Medical Center for research in Biogenetic Engineering to reduce birth defects as well as to aid in cures for disorders, including spina bifida and a multitude of other severe deformities seen in young children.

The Honorees included three great superstars, Reggie Bush, winner of the Super Bowl last year; Apolo Ohno, great Olympic speed skater, winner in Vancouver, Gold Medalist; and the Great Pete Sampras, amazing tennis player, winner of the U.S. Open and Wimbledon.

A multitude of wonderful athletes, including previous UCLA superstar basketball players, including Love, Collison and Westbrook were present.  Other superstars included Carrie Underwood, singing the National Anthem and the amazing Snoop Dog.  This is a wonderful cause for helping genetic research at Cedars Sinai Medical Center by a multitude of great celebrities in all aspects of the Entertainment Industry.  We were thrilled to attend this for our first time and look forward to next year’s.

Kelo-Cote Use After Plastic Surgery

KELO-COTE AND BIOCORNEUM WITH SPF30

KeloCoteDr. Linder is proud to be an advocate as well as a specialist for Kelo-cote on their recent infomercial now playing throughout the United States.  Because a disproportionately large part of Dr. Linder’s practice is body sculpting women, scarring is an inevitable concern, especially with the multitude of breast lifts and abdominoplasty surgeries.

Having used Kelo-cote for over two years, Dr. Linder has found it to be extremely helpful when used after sutures are removed, twice a day, for at least three months.  Bio corneum is a new product with the Kelo-cote component as well as the SPF to reduce problems associated with the UV light.  Bio corneum is used for management and preventing keloids and hypertrophic scarring.  It is excellent for patients who have had surgical scarring and desires to have less redness, smoothing, flattening and less visibility of scars.

The benefits of Bio corneum include:  it’s 100% silicone scar treatment with SPF30.  It dries within 45 minutes.  It flattens and softens scars, reducing redness and discoloration.  It also relieves itchiness and discomfort.  The SPF30 of the Bio corneum reduces sun-induced redness discoloration.  Bio corneum and Kelo-cote are excellent products for scarring.  Dr. Linder uses them every day on his patients who have postsurgical scars associated with augmentation, breast revision, breast lift and abdominoplasty procedures.

Pasadena Magazine, Cutting Edge

PASADENA MAGAZINE – MAY 2010 ISSUE
CUTTING EDGE, PLASTIC SURGERY 101

Pasadena_May2010In this month’s issue of “Pasadena Magazine,” page 27, is an interesting and informative story written by Cliff Dorfman.  He describes specialists in plastic surgery.  The article is specific to Dr. Linder and Dr. Robert Kotler, both specialists in plastic surgery of different parts of the body.  Dr. Stuart Linder is a body sculptist, who only operates below the neck and Dr. Robert Kotler is a specialist in facial plastic surgery operating only from the neck upward.  He goes into great detail, describing reasons why specialists in plastic surgery are an interesting increasing trend and the reasons that this may increase successful results in that doctors who perform the same surgery day after day, month after month, year after year, would develop great experience in judgment with the same operations, understanding the unusual pitfalls of the procedures as well as the anatomical variations.  This may allow for improved and more predictable results.

As always, I am appreciative and humble whenever magazines come to me asking to do stories on specific issues on body sculpting in plastic surgery.

Beverly Hills Liposuction of the Hips

ET_LogoENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT – CBS
LIPOSUCTIONING OF THE UPPER JEAN AREA/HIPS

Dr. Linder describes a technique that he uses which includes bi-directional liposuctioning and a vertical and oblique plane in the iliac crest roll/hip areas.  He has found this approach using 3 mm small cannulas under tumescent technique, under general anesthesia, suctioning in two levels of Camper’s and Scarpa’s fascia with a 4 mm cannula in the deeper Scarpa’s fascia both in an oblique and vertical manner and then with a smaller 3 mm cannula in the superficial fat layer as well in a vertical and oblique bi-directional pattern.  This has reduced that muffin top above the jean line and allowed women to have a more elegant, softer contour of the lower flank hip region and less bulkiness above the jeans and the jean riding area.  This will be showcased on Entertainment Tonight/CBS at 7:00 p.m. on May 13, 2010.  Dr. Linder is proud to work with Entertainment Tonight as a correspondent on issues and techniques in body sculpting procedures for women.

Mini Mommy Makeover Beverly Hills

Mommy Makeovers are becoming more prevalent than ever.  In general, Mommy Makeovers can be defined in many ways.  Dr. Linder performs Mommy Makeovers on many patients throughout the months of the year.  Mommy Makeovers may include breast augmentation (with or without breast lifts) as well as abdominoplasties with liposuctioning of the iliac crest rolls and liposuctioning and sculpting of the thighs.  Dr. Linder’s definition of a Mini Mommy Makeover includes breast augmentation, with or without a lift, and a mini abdominoplasty with liposuctioning of the hips.  This may or may not also include contouring of the inner and outer thighs with liposculpturing.

Women who have had children and/or breastfed, often what is called involutional upper pole atrophy or loss of fullness of their breasts.  Adding an implant as well as lifting the breast if there is significant skin looseness, leads to a beautiful reshaped breast.  The lower abdominal wall, when there is skin redundancy below the umbilicus but not above, may do well with a mini abdominoplasty.  A similar C-section like scar is made and extended toward the hips bilaterally and the tightening of the lower abdominal muscles from the umbilicus to the suprapubic region can be done at the same time.  The example of a mini Mommy Makeover above is showing breast enhancement surgery with a mini abdominoplasty.
