Procedures
Patients who have undergone gastric bypass surgery including lap band, gastric bypass surgery, and vertical gastroplasty procedures often have a significant amount of weight loss associated with the reduction of caloric intake. As a result, we see patients with massive skin laxity of the breasts, abdomen and thighs. These patients do well with a combination of post weight loss surgery procedures, including breast lifts, abdominoplasties, and paniculectomies. Often patients lose fullness of the breasts as well as a severe grade 3 skin laxity, thereby requiring both volume as well as tightening of the skin. This can be performed with an augmentation mammoplasty with a formal mastopexy concurrently.
Paniculectomies are performed with massive weight loss patients in order to remove the massive pannus or apron of skin.
